Pet Euthanasia At Home

I understand, Veterinary practices are busier than ever. Scheduling an appointment on the same day is getting difficult, home visits even more difficult for regular Veterinary practices to fit in. It will be myself you see every time, visiting your home and provide a caring, professional service without these time constraints.

Telephone Consultations

A telephone consultation prior to making this decision can be helpful. I can talk with you regarding hospice care at home, quality of life measures and when is the right time to consider euthanasia. This can help you decide if I can be the one to help you with your pet’s final journey.

At Home Euthanasia

I will come to your home, get to know you and your pet and carry out the euthanasia process in a kind and considerate way that suits you and your pet. This usually involves calming sedation prior to the final injection. I can talk you through the process beforehand. I believe It is the final, most selfless part of being a pet carer to offer a peaceful passing and a dignified end for our pets.

Aftercare

Helping with arrangements for cremation is all part of the service. We can arrange for your pet to be collected from your home or I can do this for you. This can also include return of their ashes, preparation of keepsakes and other appropriate memorials.

What to expect - Saying goodbye your way

During The Procedure

  • No time pressures.

  • You can be present for all or none of the procedure – we are all different.

  • A smooth transition using a pre-euthanasia sedation in 1 or 2 stages.

  • I often need to clip a small area of leg hair prior to injection.

  • The injection may be a bright colour for safety reasons.

  • As It is an emotional and sad time, you may find it helpful to have the support of a family member or friend.

After The Procedure

  • After your pet has passed away I can help you with their aftercare or leave them with you to arrange home burial or collection by a crematorium of your choice.

  • It is usually best for other pets to say goodbye at the end – you know your pets best

  • I can make paw prints, nose prints or take locks of hair for you to keep as memory keepsakes.
